Services

Conservation finance design:

Blue Maia analyse problems and propose solutions that create positive economic and environmental outcomes

Our passion lies with the opportunities that can be created in the market for environmental goods. Clean air and water, forests, biodiversity and oceans all provide services that the global economy ultimately depends on. If properly structured, markets can create benefits and reduce costs through mutually beneficial transactions.

Our clients come from the private, public and philanthropic sectors and include the likes of the European Investment Bank, the Nordic Climate Facility and the Australian government. Recent experience includes designing a voluntary carbon offset project in the agricultural sector in Zambia and advising the Colombian government on development opportunities with ‘triple bottom line’ (economic, environmental and social benefits).

Green financing, including green bonds:

We offer advice on environmental financing solutions such as green bond frameworks and transactions

Innovative financing methods will be fundamental in bringing about further investments in natural capital assets. Institutional investors and public-private partnerships have the potential to play key roles in this respect.

I have advised on over 40 green bond transactions (and counting) for institutions such as Morgan Stanley, Vestas and Transport for London. In addition, I regularly contribute on the topic at conferences and news outlets.

Evaluations and strategy:

We evaluate and provide strategic advice to organisations in the forest, climate change and environmental sectors

Finding the different strengths and advantages that different institutions can offer will be crucial to the success of the climate change and environmental agendas. My 20 plus years of experience with a wide range of clients allows me to provide value-driven analysis and advice to foundations, donors, IFIs and the private sector on both what they should be doing and how to do it. Recent clients include the Good Energies Foundation, the Climate and Land Use Alliance, and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad)

Blue Maia often works in collaboration with other experts and consultants.

the meaning of blue maia

Based on Greek and Roman mythologies and the word for water in Hebrew, the name seeks to evoke images of spring, earth and water. The colour blue seeks to reinforce the image of water – an element that is strong, yet flexible.
