Research Fellow, Imperial College

In November 2021, I joined Imperial College’s Centre for Climate Finance & Investment (CCFI) as a Research Fellow. The centre is part of the university’s business school and executes interdisciplinary applied research with ties to industry and the business community.

My first publication with the Centre is out: Future of Food Part 2: Nature-based Solutions and the Quest for Low-Carbon and Climate-Resilient Agriculture explores how the agriculture sector can reduce emissions and build resilience against the challenges of a changing climate. Nature-based solutions (NbS) can deliver benefits for both mitigation of and adaptation to climate change, however depending on how they are implemented they can also increase competition for land - potentially increasing food prices and risks to food security. Our report looks at the potential for NbS to tackle these interlinkages and assesses the realism of projected emission reduction estimates. We also explore the role of the voluntary carbon market and highlight the key challenges facing the financing of NbS.
